How to Store Your Camping Equipment Published on Tuesday, 23 March 2010 Camping is a fun and challenging activity. However, many campers find that storing camping equipment can be even more challenging. After going camping, make sure to store your equipment properly. Taking care of your equipment is the only way to ensure you can protect your investment. Here are some easy tips on storing your camping equipment: 1. Storing the tent Sweep out your tent, in case any crumbs or dirt from your last trip may still be inside. Before packing your tent away, make sure that it is dry both inside and outside. Any moisture in the tent may lead to mould or mildew problems later on. Make sure that you store your tent in a dry place, regardless of the tent's fabric. Also, keep your tent away from places where mice may be able to nibble on it. 2. Storing the sleeping bag Wipe or wash your sleeping bag, then dry it properly before putting it away. Store it in a cool and dry place, in order to prevent mould and mildew. 3. Storing your electronic equipment Ensure that all items are working properly before being stored. Then, remove the batteries from your electronic camping equipment, such as radios and flashlights. If you used up all the batteries on your last trip, make sure to purchase new ones right away. 4. Storing your other equipment Group smaller items such as insect spray and first aid kits together in a small plastic bin. Make a list of anything that may need to be repaired or replenished before your next trip. With these tips, storing your equipment should be easy and your equipment should be in great condition the next time you want to use it.
